Galactogram is a type of breast x-ray which involves injecting dye into the nipple ducts. It is sometimes used in the evaluation of nipple discharge.

Cyst Aspiration

A breast cyst is a fluid-filled sac (like a tiny balloon) inside the breast. Breast cysts are common in women. They can cause a little pain, but they are nearly always benign (not cancer).

Your physician may recommend that you have a cyst aspiration if you have a cyst that is painful, enlarging or if an ultrasound cannot determine whether or not there is just simple fluid in the cyst.

The Procedure

Cyst aspiration consists of inserting a thin needle into a lump or mass in the breast, under ultrasound guidance. Fluid from the cyst is extracted for further evaluation by the pathology lab . A local anesthetic is injected into the breast area to minimize any discomfort from the aspiration procedure.

No preparation is needed for this exam. The average time of exam can vary from 30 minutes to 60 minutes.

After your exam,we suggest that you do not do any heavy lifting for 24 hours.
